Workshops

The assembly revolves around workshops. Each workshop is run by the tutor who proposes it, and generally comprises between 15-25 participants. Generally, workshops are proposed by members prior to the assembly, and organisers decide which are the most interesting, suitable and beneficial to the theme. However, organisers can also undertake to arrange workshops themselves, if they feel there is a specific area that has not been addressed, and can invite people from outside the traditional participants of the assembly to act as tutors. Once the organisers inform the tutor that his/her workshop proposal has been selected, he/she then prepares a presentation for the Workshop Fair, typically held on the second day of the assembly. Members then choose from these presentations which workshop they would prefer to participate in for the next 10 days. The workshops vary from sound installations to computer animations, furniture design to urban micro-installations, population surveys to dynamic mapping studies, traditional built work to verbal presentations.
